Welcome to another episode of the Goddesses' Vault. I'm your host, Midnight Star. From the album The Wild Hunt, what you just heard was Ancient Trees by Chalice and Blade. This episode is all about a subject that I'm not too experienced in, but I know all of you out there, and that is trees and plants. I'll be talking about how important they are to the pagan belief. Even though I'm not much of a green thumb, I'll try my best to talk about trees and plants. I've tried to grow plants in the past. Only to arguing with parents and not getting a badge. For now. Let's listen to some KIVA with Aphrodite Flowers.

(16:33)

Here's something that a non-green thumb like myself didn't know about. I've learned it on a TED-ed YouTube video. But did you know that plants and trees can communicate with each other? It's not the same way that we communicate through movement. Plants and trees talk through chemicals in the air and soil. An example that they gave is, say, a bug lands on one plant and starts to eat it. That plant then tells the others around it, by releasing chemicals in the air, and through the soil, to start protecting yourself against this bug. And so the other plants surrounding it, develop their own defense against an insect attack. That's also something good for all you tree huggers like myself and gardeners.

It's time for the Spirit Guide of the Week. This week's Spirit Guide. We're going down to Mexico, where I will be talking about the Aztec god Xochipilli. He's the Lord of flowers, love, beauty, maze, fun, games, music, art, dead shamanism, and prophecy. Heck, he's another party god. That also means that he's the patron of all life's pleasures. Xochipilli is also responsible for sexual lust and desire. So you can call upon him if you're having problems with your sex life. You can also call upon Xochipilli if you lack creative energy in your work. He also protects the soul of dead warriors, who are then reincarnated back to earth as hummingbirds. As for his mythology, I could not find any story related to Xochipilli. If you find one, please let me know. I greatly appreciate it. What can you offer Xochipilli on your altar? Well, the first one, I would have to say with caution is to get an Aztec tattoo of a flower. That's what devotees did in the past. But if you don't want to get inked but still want to worship him, you can put Flowers, corn, your own artwork on your altar, sing a song, write, dance, anything creative. That is it for now. Stay tuned for another Spirit guide of the Week.

What you just heard was Tezozomoc with Xohipilli. Before that was Heather Alexander with her song The Garden. In this segment, I'm going to be talking about trees - not in a scientific sense, but more as a symbol. I mean, you got the Tree of Knowledge, Tree of Life, Yule Tree, Yggdrasil, Sacred Grove, Wishing Tree, and more. The symbol of the tree is in every culture and religion. Everyone knows that the bible mentioned that Eve took a bite of the apple from the Tree of Knowledge. All cultures agree that the roots of the tree grow deep in the earth and underworld, called Lower Earth. The tree's branch is reach up into the sky or the heavens or to Upper Earth. And the trunk is Middle Earth, according to more shamanic traditions than Tolkenism. The Tree of Life itself metaphorically represents the Darwinian evolution. Every animal on earth, including humans (Yes, I think humans are animals too. We give birth live, just like other animals), has some sort of evolutionary connected past When it comes to the myth of the tree for me, I'm thinking of the Family Tree. That's the metaphor I was thinking about when it comes to evolution. I mean, we all want to know where we came from, so we want to find our roots. So we go about searching for our ancestors. What do you all think? Here is Caprice with Trees.

(32:27)

There are a lot of herbs used in Paganism. Not only for cooking, but for spells as well as many other ways. Yes, every herb as magical and healing properties. By the way, in the Burning Times, (Which is the Inquisition for all you non-pagans out there), is when pagans started to write Eye of Newt. Which was code for a specific type of herb. It wasn't an actual eye of newt. Here are some examples of herbal use in paganism: Chamomile is good to help with sleep and anxiety. Basil, calendula, thyme, patchouli, yarrow, and lavender can be used for a romantic spell. Thyme, basil, as well as ginger, clove, allspice, and nutmeg can help attract money.

(37:21)

Here is another myth. This next story is taken from maobhappenings.com. This one is called A Tale of a Tail.

(52:03)

That last song was Fire Burning by the Devil’s Blood. Before that, you heard Moon and the Nightspirit with In the Gardens of Worlds Undreamt. That's it for this show. Again, I'm your host, Midnight Starr. Thank you all for joining me. Now, I'm excited to invite you to participate in two exciting polls that will shape the future of the podcast. First, we have a poll for selecting the new logo. Cast your votes in the show notes' links or scan the QR codes on the blog or Substack page. Make your voice heard and let your opinion matter! I will reveal the winning logo next month, and that will have new challengers. Second, I have another poll where you get to choose the episode to revisit. Take this opportunity to influence the content you want to hear again. Cast your votes, and I will present the chosen episode next month with updated insights and content. The polls will remain open for a month, giving you plenty of time to participate. Join in now, and together, let's shape the future of the Music from the Goddess' Vault Podcast!
