What it's All About:

This week, I’m talking about how to be Pagan in the digital age. Our world is full of screens and algorithms, so how do we stay connected to nature and spirit? I’m tackling the big question: Can we use modern technology without losing our ancient roots and connection to the Earth? Stick around for this conversation.

Now let's get into our topic: Pagan Perspectives on Technology. We all know social media is a huge reason why Paganism is on the rise. But should our only spiritual connection be through a screen? Is that the only way to build our community? I'll answer that question for you right after this track: The Pagan World is Back by Pagan Rap Gang.

(08:23)

The tension between our faith and our devices is real, and it brings up two big questions.

First, there’s the problem of disconnection. We find the divine in the forest, the river, and the quiet moments. So, how does the constant digital buzz of technology affect that core connection Technology is designed to demand our attention, creating a barrier between us and the quiet we need for spiritual connection. It constantly interrupts the awe and wonder that re-enchants the world for us.

Second, there’s the ethical question of materiality. Everything we use comes from the Earth: your phone, your Wi-Fi, and the energy needed to stream this music. It's built with mined minerals, uses immense energy, and ends up as waste. How do we, as people who hold the Earth as sacred, justify that consumption? Do we need to commit to digital minimalism or be more intentional about the life-cycle of the tech we choose to use? These are big questions we face when blending ancient roots with a modern digital life.

I am going to take a break now, so that you can listen to this song by Sharon Knight called Ghost Forest.

(13:05)

We're going back to the ancient Norse and Germanic tribes to talk about the Dwarves.

They are ancient, primordial earth spirits. Dwarves live deep underground: in mountains, mines, and caves. They are the elders of the earth, acting as the ultimate guardians of its treasures.

Their key role is that of the master craftsman. They know the occult secrets and the hidden mysteries of metals, gems, and minerals. They are masters and teachers of their craft. They are capable of creating objects of impossible function, such as magical swords and incredible jewelry.

In myths, they are sometimes described as greedy. They are fiercely protective of the knowledge and treasures they possess, or they were simply trusted as guards. They represent that protective, deep energy that makes things abundant and fertile. They are the spirits of true, productive wealth.

Need help mastering a tough skill? Call on dwarves to help you with that.

And if you want to offer something to dwarves on your altar, you can give them some hard liquor.

That is it for now. Stay tuned for another spirit guide of the week.

(17:48)

That was Witchcraft by Arthur Hinds.

In the last segment, I talked about how ancient spirits relate to technology. Now, I want to reframe the discussion entirely and see how technology can be used in a Pagan or spiritual worldview.

The key is an idea called Digital Animism, sometimes known as Technopaganism. As Pagans, many of us already apply the principle of animism: seeing spirit or life in all things, from a river to a rock.

So, why stop at the natural world? We can apply that same principle to the digital world. Think of your computer, your phone, or the internet itself not as a cold, dead tool. But as a complex nexus of energy. It’s an entity, a living network of wires and data, a genuine spirit in the machine.

If we accept this, then technology becomes just another kind of tool. No different from the wand, the athame, or the cauldron.

We can now view modern tools as being directly comparable to ancient practices. Code and algorithms can be seen as a form of modern spellcraft or a highly complex sigil. They direct digital energy toward a specific goal.

And what about connection? Virtual communities and online rituals are simply new ways to gather a group, share knowledge, and connect with people all around the world These devices aren't isolating us; they are just giving us a new, global form of the town square or the sacred grove.

This approach encourages us to be conscious, ethical users of technology. Instead of fearing the machine, we can see it as an energetic, living extension of our will. It's a tool for magic, connection, and creating abundance.

Now, let's take a quick break with a song that definitely captures that feeling: Ritual by Jana Runnalls.

(23:53)

Here's another dream symbol to interpret.

These are the three: Rain, Rapture, and Raspberry.

Dreaming of falling rain often signals emotional healing and a sense of being forgiven.

The sound of rain on the roof in your dreams signals that new spiritual ideas are finally coming together in your mind.

Dreaming you are looking at the rain through a window signals that you are currently receiving spiritual understanding.

Getting wet in your dreams, means your problems are being cleaned away.

Dreaming of acid rain suggests that you've been given false information.

Now Rapture.

If you dream you've been raptured, it signifies your intense spirituality and powerful faith.

To dream that the rapture is about to happen, it's a serious sign that you should put your life and affairs in order.

Dreaming of being excluded from the rapture symbolizes feelings of abandonment and lack of self-worth.

And Finally Raspberry.

Seeing or eating raspberries in your dream symbolizes a precious or sensitive issue.

If you want a dream symbol to interpret and maybe have a dream symbol featured, I will mention the contact information at the end of this show. So keep dreaming.
