What it's All About:
There is a pantheon of gods that is centered on this path of paganism. I will explore this in this episode of the podcast. There are witches who worship these gods. I will share a bit more about this path, the history of this ancient land, as well as introduce you to some deities.

Welcome to another episode of the Music From the Goddess’ Vault Podcast. I am your host, Midnight Starr. At the top of this show, you heard Egi Messzegek by Moon and the Nightspirit. According to Google Translate, that song's title means "Heavenly Distance" in English. Today's show is about Mesopotamian paganism. What I'm about to say is self-evident. Please go to the blog goddess vault one dot Wix site dot com forward slash home if you haven't already. You can listen to the podcast from there. I encourage you to share this podcast on the blog, the Music From the Goddess' Vault Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter @ Goddess vault, and TikTok at Midnight Starr two. That's Midnight Starr (with two r's) and the number two. I now turn to the subject of Mesopotamian paganism. When I refer to Mesopotamia, I mean the ancient land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in what is now Iraq, eastern Syria, and southern Turkey. Many consider this to be the cradle of civilization. I know that there are witches whose pantheon is Mesopotamian. I will explore this topic in greater detail. Let's listen to some more music first: Heather Dale's The Messenger.

Mesopotamia means "middle of the river." Because of its location, as mentioned at the beginning of this show, it is a fitting name. The Paleolithic Age was when humans first arrived in this area. People there lived in small villages with round houses around 14,000 B.C. Five thousand years later, thanks to introducing agriculture and domestication of animals, those settlements became farms. Later, this area also grew into cities like Babylon. Mesopotamia is where writing, astronomy, and law originated. It is also where the foundation of modern society was laid. Around 2700 B.C., the Epic of Gilgamesh was created. It is also the same location where the Sumerians, Hittites, and Assyrians once lived. Mesopotamian history is vast, so I will not elaborate further. You can do the research yourself. So, some more music for you. Here’s WillowWynd with Roots.

It’s time for another spirit guide of the week. In this week's spirit guide, can you guess where I'm going? Yes, I am in Mesopotamia to discuss the god Nabu. He is Babylon's lord of wisdom, writing, learning, prophecy, literacy, vegetation, and the rational arts. Since his name is a root meaning to name/designate, Nabu was originally a west Semitic deity. His name may have been derived from the Hebrew word for prophet. He was quickly accepted into the Babylonian pantheon and became its spokesperson. Originally, Nabu was Marduk's scribe, but when he was integrated into the Babylonian pantheon, he was Marduk's son. Two goddesses were Nabu's consorts: Tasmetu and Nanaya. In his capacity as a scribe, he writes down everyone's fate on sacred tablets. Nabu, as the supreme editor of the Babylonian version of the Book of Life, has the power to extend or shorten the lives of anybody. He is depicted with a white beard, a horned cap, and his hands clasped in the ancient gesture of priesthood. He rode a winged dragon. Because he invented writing, Nabu's symbol is a stylus resting on a tablet. That is it for now. Stay tuned for another spirit guide of the week.

That was Magicfolk with Babylon. Mesopotamian religion was polytheistic, as is all of paganism. They were almost anthropomorphic in appearance. These gods had amazing abilities and were frequently characterized as being extraordinarily tall. The ancient Mesopotamians claimed their gods lived in heaven. I should also mention that there were many tribes present, and I know Ashur was the Assyrian god. Many of these tribal deities, however, evolved into Mesopotamian ones over time. Who are these deities you might ask? As you are aware, Enki is the god of wisdom, sorcery, and incantations. You also know Istar/Inana, the goddess of sex, love, and warfare. Of course, you also know Nabu. Here are a few more. You can find information about the ancient Mesopotamian religion and their gods on the internet.
Anu is the sky god
Ansar and Kisar are the primordial god and goddess.
Aya the goddess of light.
Baba is a healing goddess
Damu is a healing god
Erra the god of war and plagues
Girra the god of fire and light
Haya the goddess of the grain and scribes.
Marduk is the god of the city of Babylon
Zabba is a warrior god.
And I know there is more.
Here is Inkubus Sukkubus with the Goddess Chant.

This week's dream symbol contains three. These are Darkness, Date, and Deer. Darkness in dreams usually indicates failure in whatever endeavor you are undertaking. Dreaming of the sun breaking through the darkness suggests that you will triumph over your setbacks. If you have a dream about being lost in the dark, it could mean you're feeling paranoid, depressed, or anxious. If you find someone in the dark in your dreams, it means you need to control your emotions. To dream that you're on a date symbolizes your desire to learn more about yourself. If you had a dream that you were dating two individuals at the same time, it means your personal connection is strong. A date (as in month, day, and year) in dreams symbolizes the passage of time and past occurrences. In dreams, seeing a deer represents elegance, kindness, tenderness, humility, and beautiful scenery. If the deer in your dream is black, it indicates that you are either ignoring or ignoring your feminine aspects. To dream that you're bottle-feeding a baby deer exemplifies your nurturing nature. A dream in which you hunt or kill a deer indicates that you are attempting to repress your feminine tendencies.

It’s time for a nice, deep, and relaxing meditation. If you are listening to this podcast in a moving vehicle, skip ahead. I don't know what album this track is from. This is from the Honest Guys and it's called Guided Meditation: 4 Minute Stress Buster.

Castalia's Run Like a Deer played before the meditation. This wraps up the show. Again, I am your host, Midnight Starr.
