What it's All About:
Two weeks ago, I looked at Rituals. Today, I'm going to talk about creating your own spells. I'm aware that not all pagans do spells, but some of us do. So, I will discuss how you can create rituals and spells to suit a variety of needs, from healing, to prosperity, to business. I will discuss the history of spell work and why we require ingredients for it.

Welcome to another episode of the music from the Goddess’ Vault Podcast. I am your host Midnight Starr. The song you just heard was Love Spell by Inkubus Sukkubus. My topic today is how to make your own spell. If you haven't already, please visit the blog goddess vault one dot Wix site dot com forward slash home. I encourage you to spread the word of this podcast through the blog, the Music From the Goddess’ Vault Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter at goddess vault, and TikTok at Midnight Starr two. That's Midnight Starr (with two r's) and two. Now for the topic: Creating your own spells. As a beginner to paganism, most people expect this. They want to know how to cast a spell right away. Before you can cast one, you must first learn the fundamentals of paganism. Many of us buy books on spells from other authors just for that reason. The next question is for those new to the craft: Did you know that you can create your own spells? It is not necessary to copy your instructor's Book of Shadows or buy other books about it. You can create your own spells. You may or may not learn anything new if you've been a pagan for years. The next song in this podcast is Blue Spell by Three Weird Sisters.

I couldn't find any information on when and where casting spells began. It has been around ever since we lived in caves. The history of spell-casting is as old and varied as society itself. Most people believe that spells existed before written language. Archaeologists have found many ancient examples from all over the world – including Australia, Africa, Europe and Asia – proving this to be true. Some cultures even credit their ancestors with having superior knowledge about spells than we possess today! Theories suggest that these early magicians used a form of sympathetic magic: for instance by wearing an animal’s paw on one’s head or using human blood in rituals to give power to healers who were sick themselves or others less fortunate. In prehistoric times, there was no distinction between "healers" and "magicians." Shamans acted in both roles since they had access to a range of healing methods; not just herbal remedies, but also magical ones through chants, prayers, and dances. It makes sense then that some tribal medicine men could cast very powerful spells. From prehistoric times to the present, spell casting has evolved. The spells that have survived to the present day are not necessarily of a more powerful nature than those used in centuries past. Spells were originally obtained by the practitioner through oral tradition and memorization; they then became obsolete as books on magic came into being and gradually replaced them. In the next section, I'll explain how you can create a spell without buying any books on Amazon. The next song is Bjornemyr's I Put A Spell On You.

It's time for another spirit guide of the week. It is time for me to return to Greece for a talk on the goddess Circe. She is the first divine witch on the scene. A powerful goddess. Circe's name is equivalent to the term sorceress. Her story appears in the Odyssey and other Greek myths. Circe is the daughter of Helios and Perse. As an enchantress, she is part of a lineage of divine women that includes Hecate, Pasiphae, Ariadne, Medea, and Angitia. Her consort is Hermes. According to myth, Circe is said to have performed a cleansing rite on Jason and Medea after the murder of Medea's brother. Circe is a shape-shifter as well, but she is known for transforming others. She has turned male visitors into lions, pigs, and baboons. By transforming these men into specific animals, Circe can reveal the true identity of these men. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything to offer Circe at your altar. Due to her status as a sorceress, anything witchy can be used. That is it for now. Stay tuned for another spirit guide of the week.

That was Wendy Rule with Circe. Before I talk about how to create your own spells, let's take a moment to discuss what's happening in the world. I hate getting political. Like all of you, I stand with Ukraine. The situation in that country is terrible. Ostara will be different in that we will be considering those whose freedom has just been taken away by war. Last week's rebroadcast of the Racism Episode showed why I support Ukraine. Thus, our thoughts should be with every Ukrainian suffering at the moment. I'm uncertain if I should repeat my earlier Slavic Paganism show. Also, I am aware that many of you have a lot of anxiety because of this war. Limit your TV and social media usage. Spend some time outside in nature. Set out to take your mind off what is happening in the world by doing something fun with your family and friends. Now I am going to transition into creating your own spells. There are spells that you can create to treat depression and anxiety. First, you need an intention. Whatever it is, write it down in your Book of Shadows. You might want to consider whether you want your spell to include opening and closing your own circle. Consider whether you want to call a certain deity, if you want to. Next, gather all the items you will need for this spell. If you wish to do a money spell, you can research what herbs are effective. Rather than buying something new, find something you already have. Consider the color as well. For example, green is a symbol of abundance, so if you have a green candle, use it. If not, opt for a white candle. You can use crystals and spells can also be cast with everyday objects like keys or toy cars. The choice is yours. Next, you need to ground yourself. This is necessary because you need to focus on your intention. The next step is to record your spell on a piece of paper. Make a sigil if you wish. There is an episode of Music From the Goddess’ Vault Podcast where I discuss how to create one. Chanting and writing a poem is also an option if you would like. Chants do not need to rhyme. There are rhyming dictionaries available on the internet or on phone apps. Alternatively, you can write your intention on a piece of paper and burn it. There are thousands of ways to create a spell. And finally, you must raise the energy of your intention into the universe. You can do this by burning or tearing apart a piece of paper. You can also drum, dance or sing to send that energy out into the universe. So, there you have it, you created a spell on your own. Here is Unto Ashes with their song Banishment Spell.

Here's another dream symbol to interpret. This week's dream symbol features these three: knitting, pan, and paper. If you had a dream that you were knitting something, it represents a home life that is quiet, serene, and kind. If you are having trouble knitting in your dreams, you are ignoring an issue in your life. When you dream of knitting needles, you are changing a situation to achieve your goals. The pan symbol usually represents your position and mindset relating to a particular situation. In your dreams, you may see a pan made of glass, which symbolizes your knowledge of a predicament you are in. Dreaming about a frying pan represents love's fulfillment. A blank white page in your dreams signifies your wish to start your life over again. If you dreamed of a stack of papers, it indicates that you are under tremendous stress and obligations. Seeing crumpled paper in a dream represents rejected ideas. And to dream that you see red paper indicates that you need to articulate your anger more effectively and rationally. If you want a dream symbol to interpret and maybe have a dream symbol featured, the contact information will be mentioned at the end of this show. So keep dreaming.

From Folk Text, here's another tale. The story is called The Dark Daughter of the Norse King and is from Scotland.
