Welcome to another episode of the Music from the Goddess’ Vault Podcast. I am your host, Midnight Starr. You just heard Straffad Moder & Dotter by Germarna. The translation of that title means “Mother and Daughter Punished. The topic of today’s episode is all about Hereditary Witchcraft. Before we dive into today's episode, I've got a couple of quick updates and exciting announcements. First things first, have you had your say in my polls yet? I've set up not one, but two of them for you to vote. The first one is all about choosing a brand-new logo for the show – something that represents the essence of what this is all about. And here's the twist – the winning logo needs to go undefeated for three months to claim its spot as the face of the Music from the Goddess’ Vault. It's like the podcast logo championship, and your votes decide the winner. The links are right there in the show notes, or you can scan those QR codes on the blog and Substack page. Here’s an update on that poll: The competition is heating up. These designs are battling it out for the coveted spot as the visual representation of this podcast. It's intense, it's thrilling, and I can't wait to see which design comes out on top. Now, the second poll is equally exciting. I'm giving you the power to choose which past episode we revisit in the next few weeks. Your favorite episode might just make a comeback! Same deal – check out the links and cast your vote. But here's the catch – these polls are only open for a month, so act quickly! Your participation is crucial, and I can't wait to see which direction you steer this in.I want to extend an invitation for you to explore my newsletter at musicgoddessvault.substack.com. Whether you choose the $7 monthly plan, the $70 yearly option, or free access. Stay tuned for an upcoming poll, where I'll be seeking your input on additional perks. Your engagement keeps the magic alive, so thank you for supporting this podcast. Got any suggestions for future show topics, spirit guides, or dream symbols? Drop me a message on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, X, Mastodon, Threads, or swing by my blog at goddessvault1.wixsite.com/home. I can't wait to hear from you! Now for the topic: Hereditary Witchcraft. Whether you're, like myself, the first in your family waving the pagan flag. And there are those of you who have generations of women in your family passing down the rich tapestry of pagan knowledge. I want to focus on what Hereditary Wicca is all about. But, before we get deep into it, let the sounds of A Witches Daughter by Harold Carter fill your ears.

Hereditary Witch you already know is knowledge that is passed down from generation to the next. Like all the other religions of the world, there is no Witch DNA. This is a belief that is taught to us. And of course, not only do they have their own beliefs, but traditions within the family as well. What's really cool about Hereditary Witchcraft is how flexible it is within family setups. It's not just a straightforward pass from mom to daughter; but also some aunts, uncles, grandparents, even dads, they all bring their unique pagan wisdom to the mix. The beauty of this tradition lies in the many ways it blends with family customs. Getting into the details of Hereditary Witchcraft can get a bit tricky because it shows up in various forms within families. And you know what adds to the mix? Culture. Different backgrounds, like if you come from a Slavic witch family versus a Celtic or Norse one, can make Hereditary Witchcraft look more interesting. Before we get into this topic a bit further, let get into the mood with this song: The Mother’s Land by Arthur Hinds.

Time for another Spirit Guide of the Week. I am back in China to talk about the goddess Nu Kua. She is also known as Nu Wa or Nu Gua. Nu Kua, the ultimate mother goddess who rules over fertility and marriages. She is the primordial goddess who is married to the god Fu Xi, and found herself growing bored with the passage of time. To amuse herself, Nu Kua crafted humans from Yellow River Mud, caring for them as their creator. Yet, growing bored again, she introduced sexual intercourse for their reproduction. Nu Kua protected her children, managed floods, and taught irrigation and dam-building. When a disaster damaged the sky, she fixed it with sacred five-colored stones. Nu Kua protected her children from monsters who aimed to wipe out humanity. Once, she even cut off the feet of the Great Tortoise, and use them as pillars to support the universe. After creating humans, Nu Kua retired to the sky. But, you can still call on her for fertility or marital help. And she's shown as a woman from the waist up and either a dragon, snake, or snail from the waist down. That is it for now. Stayed tuned for another spirit guide of the week.

From the Red Album compilation, that was Mother Of by Spiral Rhythm. To tell you the truth. This topic is another one where there isn’t much information out. But then I found an article, which is in the show notes, that gave me another perspective on it. Believe it or not, the term Hereditary Wicca is controversial in itself. Why? Well, I mentioned earlier that this practice involves passing down knowledge from one generation to another. In the realm of Hereditary witches, things get interesting. Some who claim this title break the mold—they're not following a magical family tradition. Nope, they're the first Pagans in their family tree. This unique twist stirs up controversy, splitting the Hereditary path into two: those with pagan family traditions and those paving their own personal journey. Some in the pagan community, including myself, question the existence of hereditary witches. They don’t believe that Witchcraft is hereditary, and plus some people do lie. I am not saying that hereditary witchcraft doesn’t exist. I personally know of a mother-daughter team who are in this together. But there are a few that bend the true about their heritage saying that they come from a long line of witches, when in reality it is the opposite. Besides, for many of us, the journey into paganism is driven by the quest for self-discovery. What's your take on it? Do you embrace the concept of a Hereditary Witch, or do you find labeling oneself as such a bit questionable? Here’s Mother Moon by Fay Brotherhood.

Here's another dream symbol to interpret. Bath, Bats, and Beach are the three. If you had a dream where you were taking a bath, It might suggest a cleansing of both your external and internal self. Dreaming of bathing someone indicates a desire to bond with that person. Giving a dog a bath in a dream represents your nurturing side. Bats in dreams represent dirtiness, harmful influences, and disturbances. Dreaming about a white bat suggests the loss of a loved one. If your dream featured a vampire bat, it indicates that someone in your life might deplete your confidence and/or your energy. Seeing five bats in your dream represents well-being, a long and fulfilling life, a balanced pace, prosperity, and joy. Dreaming of beaches usually signifies the merging of your logical and emotional states of mind. Seeing yourself on the beach and gazing towards the ocean in your dream suggests major and unforeseen changes taking place in your life. If you dreamed of looking towards the beach, it implies a return to something that is familiar to you. Dreaming about unwinding on the beach indicates that the upcoming weeks will be peaceful and serene for you. And to dream of working on the beach suggests that a business project will demand a significant portion of your time. If you want a dream symbol to interpret and maybe have a dream symbol featured, I will mention the contact information at the end of this show. So keep dreaming.

Before the meditation, you heard Arcana with The Calm Before the Storm. That is it for this show. Again, I am your host, Midnight Starr. I personally invite you to join me in something thrilling. Right now, I'm conducting two polls, and I genuinely want to hear your thoughts. I'm in search of a new logo, and I'd greatly appreciate your input to help me choose the perfect one. Check out the links in the show notes or spot the QR codes on both the blog and my Substack page. Once the votes are counted, I'll unveil the winning logo. This design will enter a showdown with four new contenders. I expect the logo that connects the most with all of you to become the new face of the Music from the Goddess’ Vault Podcast. This selected logo will undergo three months of competition, and if it emerges victorious, it will be the ultimate choice. Let's shift our focus to the second poll – Revisiting one of my old episodes. The process remains the same – you'll find the links in the show notes, and the QR code is accessible on both my blog and Substack. Additionally, this poll will be ongoing. You have a full month to make your decisions. Don't hesitate – seize the moment and click now. Got a show topic, a spirit guide, or a dream symbol on your mind?
